Tips for Starting a New Blog

| Let's face it, blogs are already the "in thing" these days. Almost everyone who has access to the internet and has time to update a blog has one, so you're now thinking of starting your own. When starting a new blog, make sure that you choose the right blogging software. There are free ones and paid ones out there, but we would like to recommend one of the best (if not THE best) blogging software out there -- WordPress. It is very powerful since it's highly customizable and flexible. There are literally tons of add-ons and themes for you to use, and the best part is most of them are free. After making up your mind regarding the software, it's time to think of the topic for your blog. Are you going to blog about your personal interests? What about your expertise? It's all up to you, but make sure that you will be able to post something regularly. Otherwise your blog will just become one of the abandoned blogs out there. Another thing that you should keep in mind when starting a blog is your purpose for blogging. Are you blogging so that your friends will be updated, or are you blogging to make money online? If your reason is the latter, then make sure that you choose the right topic for your blog. Choose something that is "profitable". Once you have thought about your blog's topic, then you now have to find a blog hosting service. Blogger and WordPress.com are great choices for starters, especially if you have no intentions of shelling out money just to have a blog. However, free hosting services are not really recommended as you have no total control over your blog. It's okay to spend around $10.00 for a domain name and another $10.00 or less for web hosting because you and your blog will really benefit from it. For hosting, we recommend HostGator as they are really reliable and they are very generous n terms of the disk space and bandwidth quota. After the hosting is all set, then it's time to upload your files. If you're using WordPress and if your hosting has Fantastico, then it would be easy to install the blog. But if you're not confident and if you think you're going to mess things up, then you might need some professional help, and luckily there are installation services available out there, like WPStart. Now that you have everything set-up and ready, it's time to start writing your posts! Just write about your chosen topic and always remember to stick with it.
